The types of percentage preparation solutions.

There are three types of percentage preparation:

1. Weight in volume (w / v)
2. Weight in weight (w / w)
3. Volume in volume (v / v)

Weight in volume (W/V) 

Percentage solutions: In this preparation the solute is weighted on mass the solvent in measured by volume.

percentages solutions: In this preparation the solute and solvent are taken by weighting.  Ex: 1% w/w preparation.

Solid (solute) 1 part by weight

Solvent to produce 100 parts by weight.

1 gm solute is dissolved in sufficient amount of solvent to produce 100 gm.

Volume in volume (v / v)

preparation solutions:

v / v = [(volume of solute) / (volume of solution)] x 100%
